Depending on your locale, having a number for road conditions wouldn't hurt. I have a 100 mile commute for work which takes me over a mountain pass and during the winter it could be closed due to snow or wildfires in the summer.

Aside from storing these numbers on your cell phone it wouldn't hurt to actually write them down somewhere and maybe keep a copy in your wallet. A time or two I couldn't recall a number cause I've always just hit the shortcut number on my phone. If your phone dies or is misplaced you have a backup and then can find a...-gasp-, a payphone. (Do they still have those?!)

local DPW: for trash pickup info (Christmas trees, hazardous waste days etc.), snow removal (when the hell are you going to plow my dead-end street?), or fallen trees.

A small problem with 4. ICE (In Case of Emergency)
My phone will probably be locked
So if I can't give my phone unlock code , the ICE number is "unreachable"
And if I can give my phone unlock code, I can probably give my wife number or name !

To quote our telephony consultant, "Don't lock your phone. If it's lost or stolen, your provider may be able to trace the phone and recover it. If it's locked, it will probably be trashed and will never be recovered."

Everyone knows about 411, but do they know about free411? You get assistance of 411 without the cost. Saved my butt many a time. The number's 1-(800)-373-3411.
